Rosemary and oil, commonly found in kitchens, can serve not only as culinary ingredients but also as a potent remedy for various ailments, including muscle disorders, inflammations, and pains. This simple preparation acts as a natural muscle relaxant and provides relief for acute pain and discomfort.
Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil (EVO oil)
- Fresh rosemary sprigs
Instructions:
- Prepare the Oil and Rosemary Mixture:
- Combine 4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil with fresh rosemary sprigs. The rosemary and oil mixture will form the base of the natural remedy.
- Application on Painful Areas:
- Rub the mixture onto the affected areas, such as the back, arms, legs, or hands, where you experience pain or muscle discomfort.
- Leave for 20 Minutes:
- Allow the mixture to sit on the affected area for at least 20 minutes. This allows the properties of rosemary and oil to be absorbed and provide relief.
- Repeat as Needed:
- Repeat the application until the pain subsides or eases. The process can be repeated as necessary to maintain relief.
Alternative Preparation with Dried Rosemary:
- Create a Rosemary-Infused Oil:
- If fresh rosemary is unavailable, use dried rosemary for a similar effect. Place a spoonful of dried rosemary or a few sprigs of fresh rosemary in a jar with at least 250 ml capacity.
- Add Olive Oil and Let it Steep:
- Pour extra virgin olive oil into the jar, covering the rosemary completely. Close the lid and let it steep in a dark environment for at least 10 days.
- Strain and Use:
- After the steeping period, strain the oil to separate the rosemary. The resulting infused oil can be used for various purposes.
Rosemary Infusion:
- Prepare Rosemary Tea:
- For a different form of consumption, rosemary can be used to prepare a soothing tea. Take a branch of rosemary, either fresh or dried, and place it in a saucepan.
- Boil with Water:
- Add 300ml of water to the saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil over low heat. Let it simmer for 10 minutes.
- Strain and Enjoy:
- Strain the tea into a glass, and it’s ready to be enjoyed. This rosemary infusion can be consumed either hot or cold.
- Regular Consumption:
- For optimal results, drink rosemary tea at least twice a day for three months. Consistency is key to experiencing the full benefits.
Rosemary, with its rich antioxidant content, offers a range of health benefits, making it a versatile remedy for various ailments. Whether applied externally or consumed as a tea, rosemary can contribute to overall well-being.
