Fertilizing grapes in the spring is essential for a bountiful harvest.

Here’s how you can feed your grapes for optimal growth and fruit production:

  1. Before Vegetation (March-April):
    • Organic Fertilizers:
      • Compost or Manure: These are rich sources of nutrients essential for grapevine growth.
        • Prepare a solution by filling a bucket with horse or cow manure and adding 3 buckets of water. Allow it to ferment for 7-14 days.
        • Before application, dilute the solution with water in a ratio of 1:5.
    • Chicken Droppings: Rich in phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, and nitrogen.
      • Place a handful of chicken droppings in 20 liters of water and let it soak for about 7 days.
      • Dilute with water before use.
    • Wood Ash: Provides essential minerals for plant growth.
      • Dilute one kilogram of wood ash with 3 buckets of water and let it sit for 3 days.
      • Before applying to the vine, dilute another 10 liters of water with the liquid.
  2. Flowering Period (End of May – Beginning of June):
    • During the flowering period, it’s beneficial to provide additional nutrients to support flower development and fruit set.
    • You can use the same organic fertilizers mentioned above, applying them as needed.
  3. When the Berries Reach the Size of Peas:
    • As the grapes develop, they require continued nutrition to support fruit growth and ripening.
    • Organic fertilizers can continue to be applied as needed to ensure the vines receive adequate nutrients.

By following these guidelines and providing your grapevines with the necessary nutrients through organic fertilizers like compost, manure, chicken droppings, and wood ash, you can promote healthy growth and maximize fruit production, ultimately leading to a bountiful harvest of sweet and juicy grapes.
