For a plentiful cucumber harvest in your garden, experienced gardeners recommend a special trick: using yeast fertilizer, which provides significant benefits especially for cucumbers.
Using Yeast Fertilizer
You can feed cucumber seedlings with yeast, which remains effective for one and a half to two months—meaning you only need to apply this solution up to three times during the season. It’s crucial to get the proportions right.
How to Prepare Yeast Fertilizer:
- Mix 100 g of yeast, 1 liter of water, and 50 g of sugar.
- Let the mixture sit for two days.
- Dilute the concentrate in 9 liters of water and use it to water the cucumbers.
Application Tips:
- Apply during flowering to attract bees with the feeding’s aroma.
Dry Yeast Fertilizer Recipe:
- Warm 250 ml of water to about 30 degrees Celsius.
- Dissolve 2.5 g of dry yeast and a quarter teaspoon of sugar in the warm water.
- After 10 minutes, dilute the solution to 2 liters with water.
- Allow it to ferment for four days.
- Use 500 ml of the solution to water the roots of each cucumber plant.
Enhancing Ovary Growth:
- Mix 2.5 liters of warm settled water with 25 g of dry yeast, 150 g of wood ash, and 15 g of sugar. Let it infuse for 2 hours before diluting in 2.5-3 liters of water for watering.
Fresh Yeast Dressing for Tomatoes and Cucumbers:
- Dissolve 200 g of yeast in 1 liter of water and let it ferment for three hours in a warm place.
- Dilute the mixture in 9 liters of water once fermentation starts.
- Use 1 liter per plant for tomatoes or cucumbers.
Caution:
- Avoid overusing these fertilizers to prevent potassium depletion from the soil. Apply to tomatoes every 14 days and cucumbers every one and a half weeks.
Yeast and Ascorbic Acid Recipe:
- Mix 5 liters of water, 10 g of dry yeast, and 2 g of ascorbic acid.
- Let it sit for a week in a warm place.
- Dilute the infusion with water at a ratio of 1:40 before watering, using half a liter per plant.
Benefits of Ascorbic Acid:
- Promotes strong flower formation and fruit development, aiding plants in tolerating hot weather.
